Framatome Receives Department of Energy Voucher

Framatome recently received a Department of Energy voucher via the Gateway for Accelerated Innovation in Nuclear (GAIN) initiative. Under the award, Framatome will work with Argonne National Laboratory to validate computational fluid dynamics for application in nuclear processes with two-phase flow.

Evaporator Repair at Savannah River Site

Framatome and Savannah River Remediation (SRR) successfully completed repair work on a high-level waste evaporator (3H) at the DOE’s Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken, SC. By designing and using customized components and specialized inspection and repair techniques, Framatome’s team safely cleaned, welded, and sealed the identified evaporator leak.

ADEPT 2.0 System Upgrade at Oak Ridge National Laboratory

A rod-handling system for a hot cell in the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Irradiated Fuels Examination Laboratory (IFEL) needed to be replaced after about a decade of use. The statement of work required a platform to be custom-designed for examining full-length fuel rods in the hot cell. The requirements called for two components: An in-cell machine for the handling of the fuel rod and an out-of-cell equipment rack containing the electronic controls and computer systems.
